Okay folks, Spring is on it’s way (I don’t want to say it’s here or I’ll probably jinx it) and I am turning over a new leaf. Time to lose that last 20 pounds of baby weight, it’s doing nothing but slowing me down and keeping me from wearing jeans that fit. I’ve got a pair of Reebok Easytones in my arsenal and I am ready to walk! Look that this amazing place I have to walk around in, it’s beautiful even in the dead of winter. This is one of V’s favorite spots to toss rocks in the water & pick Rose Hips in the summer. I’ve been working really hard to change my eating habits lately; I’ve even given up my precious lattes and have started drinking green tea & lemon balm tea a la my amazing herbalist friend in Oregon. A few of my new favorite snacks are roasted chick peas, kale chips & popcorn with nutritional yeast and herbamare. I still need to perfect some quick healthy (vegetarian) dinnertime meals but hey, Rome wasn’t built in a day right?

A few questions: Parents, what are your favorite ways to de-stress and excersize? How do you manage it with two kids? I’ve been walking at night after the junior mints go to sleep (and when it’s not freezing) but I’d like to get out more durning the day. Sans double stroller, I’m finding it a bit hard because V still has trouble on very long walks. Plus, I like to keep a pretty fast pace. As of right now I’m either taking V in the stroller & leaving Clementine with her dad, or popping her in the ergo. Maybe I should just consider all that more calories burned? Hmmm….

Do you have any favorite healthy snacks or dinners? what are they? V is a very good eater, thank God, but I find that we have the same 4 or 5 go-to meals all the time. I know a lot of that is a seasonal thing but man, Bor-ing! I suppose I also need the motivation/energy to cook…

I’m going to try to keep some progress reports going here, I think it will keep me motivated. Let’s see if these Reeboks really work!
Keep checking back, we have a bunch of great reviews coming up and another giveaway! xo

4 months!

Man, this little lady just gets cuter & cuter. Sleep is settling, barf is waning, big sister Violet doesn’t want to send her back… I can’t ask for anything more than that. I took this picture with my phone today because it was all I could reach while she was on this blanket. She was so happy, just cooing away and shoving her hands in her mouth. Babies are so so awesome. Just looking at my two makes me feel like the luckiest lady alive.

As I have mentioned before, Clementine is in the beginning stages of teething, which, totally blows. I’ve been having such a hard time getting her to sleep, and the only way I’ve been able to do it is by rocking her in her car seat. This little trick started about a month ago when she was so congested we had to keep her upright. Now she doesn’t want to sleep any other way.

For the last week, even that has been trying. I usually sit at my computer and catch up on email & reading while I’m rocking her and one night she just would. not. stop. screaming. In a move of desperation I opened up my iTunes and scanned quickly for the first thing that could be deemed soothing. I popped on Vespertine by Björk and I swear, within minutes, Clementine was totally passed out. I thought maybe it was a fluke but it has worked every time since I first did it.

So Björk, if you’re out there, I totally owe you. Thanks for doing me a solid when you recorded Vespertine, I had no idea!

It didn’t even take 3 minutes before I caught her starting to cut her hair. I told her no, that they weren’t for cutting hair, only paper, and she seemed to agree. My *whole family* was in the room: mom, bro, husband and none of us noticed her creep under her play table until it was too late.

You know how your spider-sense starts to tingle when you notice just how quiet your child is being? That’s totally what happened. So my brother walked over to her table and I saw his jaw drop. I heard her mumble “it’s not fair” as I pulled her out from underneath. She essentially gave herself bangs over her right ear. Thankfully, it’s not that noticeable, but I still cried. It kind of looks like her hair is tucked behind her ear but it’s actually not even there.

I know, I know, it’s a right of passage. Sigh. I know it grows back. But man, what a crummy milestone.

3 Months!

Or just shy of. This picture was so cute I couldn’t resist posting it early. I also wanted to take a photograph of my new & very beautiful INKE cushion cover (They have set up a new blog here in case any of you are interested). I know it’s a bit fuzzy but right after I took this picture, V whispered in Clemmie’s ear “Best Friends Forever” so slow & sweet, I nearly died. I feel so incredibly thankful for my babies & my family right now. I’m going to try & burn that moment into my brain so I can think about it years from now when they are fighting over the car keys.

Happy New Year!

Once again I am happy to see the past year leave and welcome a new one. The holidays were pretty crazy on this end and I’m hoping to get right back into the swing of things. Tonight I’m going to celebrate the new year with a very long hot shower and hopefully some relaxing with my husband. Tomorrow at noon we’re heading down to the beach to watch a bunch of crazies jump in the ocean. I hope this coming year brings everyone of you prosperity & bliss!
